New Students

If you intend to bring a vehicle to campus, or think you may occasionally borrow one from home, you will need a Mustang Permit.

After the first few weeks of classes, the gates allowing entry to the residence hall parking lots will only open for those vehicles displaying this permit. If Campus Safety is present at the gates, you may still get to bring a vehicle to the dorms, but if Campus Safety is not present you will not be able to park by the dorms and need to park on lower campus to walk. To avoid this inconvenience, be sure you have your Mustang Permit.

Don’t worry about the first few weeks of classes, we will allow all students access to the dorms by vehicle but we will need to see a print out of your purchase on your driver’s side dashboard which you can display as soon as your purchase is made and you receive it by email (check your junk folder if you don’t get it).

You will need to create your account (need your student ID number for that), and then you return to the same page and purchase your permit.

The Mustang Permit will be mailed to you in 7-10 business days so choose wisely where you desire to have it mailed by USPS. If mailing to Master’s, either have your box number or ensure it is mailed to “Attn; My name/Stu ID #” to help the mailroom get it to the right mailbox.

The Traditional Programs have one cost for the Mustang Permit and that cost is applicable for either one semester or the entire school year. There are no prorated costs, so if you intend to bring a vehicle please plan ahead to make your purchase so that you receive it before the first day of classes. The system will email you a temporary you can print out to display on the driver’s dashboard throughout your WOW experience, but safety understands that many guests are coming and going and will not be issuing tickets for non-compliance until the first day of classes.

Returning Students

We have installed new gates at the guard shack to better secure access to the residence hall area. Don’t worry about the first few weeks of classes, we will allow all students access to the dorms by vehicle but we will need to see a print out of your purchase on your driver’s side dashboard which you can display as soon as your purchase is made and you receive it by email (check your junk folder if you don’t get it).

It is important to note that all short-term permits have been removed for purchase on the website and the only way to access the residence halls is with the purchase of the Mustang permit. Resident students will now receive a hanging placard style permit which may be transferred between vehicles owned and registered by that student.

Faculty & Staff

All TMUS Faculty and Staff must re-register for a new 2024-2025 permit this year. You will be allowed to add multiple vehicles on a single permit if you wish. Visit permitssales.net/TMU to register your vehicle and receive your free permit.
